Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) Compliance

Certificates of Conformity:

On August 1, 2011, Congress amended the CPSIA to exclude ordinary books and ordinary paper-based printed materials from the third party testing and certification requirements of the CPSIA. An "ordinary book" as defined by the amendment, means: "a book printed on paper or cardboard, printed with inks or toners, and bound and finished using a conventional method, and that is intended to be read or has educational value." H.R.2715.

The manufacturer of the book containing this web address only manufactures ordinary books bound and finished in a conventional manner; thus, the books produced by this manufacturer are not subject to the testing and certification requirements of the CPSIA.

However, you may still obtain tracking label information regarding your book as required by the Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC").

Tracking Labels:

Tracking label information includes the city, state and date of manufacture of your particular copy and is required by the CPSC for the purposes of product recall.

It is easy to ascertain the city, state and date of manufacture of your copy if your copy contains the following information on the last page of your book:

If your book contains a code beginning with LV, BV, FS, or JS, it was printed in the following city and state:

  • LV: LaVergne, TN
  • BV: Breinigsville, PA
  • FS: Fresno, CA
  • JS: Jackson, TN

The date can be determined by locating the last 6 digits of that code and are in this format DD/MM/YY. Thus, LVOW031246220121 means this book was printed in LaVergne, TN on January 22, 2021.
